Nació el 07/12/1937. Premio Konex 1993. Jurado Premios Konex 2003. Licenciado en Matemáticas (UBA, 1961). Doctor en Filosofía, en la Division of Physical Sciences de la Universidad de Chicago (1967). Fue premiado en Italia por The Third World Academy of Sciences, en 1966. Profesor Regular Titular Plenario de Análisis Real del Departamento de Matemática, de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales de la UBA. Su campo de investigación preferido fue el de las Integrales Singulares, la diferenciación e integración fraccionaria, las transformadas de Hilbert y Riesz, y los espacios de Hardy. Investigador Superior de la Carrera del Investigador Científico y Tecnológico del CONICET (PK). Dictó clases en Campinas (Brasil), Madrid (España) y Cuzco (Perú). Director del Instituto Argentino de Matemáticas. Rector de la UBA. Miembro de las Academias Nacionales de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales y de la de Ciencias de Córdoba. Publicó numerosos artículos tanto en Argentina como en el exterior. Falleció el 03/04/2007.

Biografía ampliada

Nació el 7 de diciembre de 1937. Es Licenciado en Ciencias Matemáticas recibido en la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, en 1961. Obtuvo el título de Doctor of Philosophy en la Division of Physical Sciences de The University of Chicago, en 1967.

Ocupó los cargos de Profesor Regular Titular Plenario de Análisis Real del Departamento de Matemática de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (desde 1996); Investigador Superior de la Carrera del Investigador Científico y Tecnológico del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas de la República Argentina (CONICET, desde 1993); Académico Titular de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales de la República Argentina (desde 1988); Académico de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas (Córdoba, desde 1999) y el cargo de Vicepresidente de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales de la República Argentina. (desde 2002). Ha publicado numerosos artículos tanto en el país como en el exterior. En 1996 obtuvo un premio otorgado por The Third World Academy of Sciences (Trieste, Italia).
